Hello!

I believe...

Most of the answers are already inside us; they may need to be unearthed or uncovered.

We hurt, and therefore heal, through relationships.

Each of us is inherently worthy, and every part of us is doing the best it can.

The relationship you have with your therapist should be authentic and feel safe.

Effective therapy brings a balance of both acceptance of where we are and a willingness to move towards change.

My story...

Before entering the mental health field, I had what was my dream job: guiding young adults and teens on language immersion, service learning, and wilderness trips in the United States and abroad. Though this work was invigorating, what felt the most meaningful to me was walking alongside people from all backgrounds as they embarked on a life-changing experience, whether backpacking through a storm or exploring a new country. I pondered - How can we find extraordinary experiences in everyday living? I became a therapist because I saw an opportunity to provide life-changing experiences of a different kind. I obtained my Master's in Social Work at the Metropolitan University of Denver, and have worked in the mental health field with individuals and families since.

The title of 'therapist' is more than just a role; it's a calling.

I have guided people in California, Colorado, Wyoming, Peru, Ecuador, Indonesia, Costa Rica and China. These days, my passion is supporting clients as they navigate their own systems and integrating experiences of every day living.

Why Luma Counseling?

Luma is my beloved rescue pup!  Initially when I adopted her, I had high hopes of her working alongside her as a therapy dog. However, we quickly found out she is much happier at home.

In Latin, Luma means "light" or "brightness". My ultimate goal as a therapist is to help you connect to the light or brightness within.
